Reduce Motion & Media

Motion can be distracting or uncomfortable for some people. ProfoundSyntax uses the standard browser and operating-system reduced-motion preference in supported parts of the interface.

How ProfoundSyntax Responds to Reduced Motion

  • Supported Community and theme transitions reduce or effectively remove animation when prefers-reduced-motion: reduce is active.
  • The Back to Top control uses immediate scrolling instead of smooth scrolling when reduced motion is requested.
  • Temporary Community notices minimize their dismissal animation when reduced motion is requested.
  • The homepage decorative background-video system has an administrator setting that can suppress the video for visitors who request reduced motion.

Turn On Reduced Motion on Your Device

Windows

Open Windows Settings, go to Accessibility, and review Visual effects or Animation effects. The exact label can vary by Windows version.

macOS

Open System Settings > Accessibility > Display and enable Reduce motion.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings > Accessibility > Motion and enable Reduce Motion.

Android

Open your device Accessibility settings and look for options related to removing animations, reducing motion, or animation scale. Names and locations vary by Android version and device manufacturer.

Media and Autoplay

ProfoundSyntax may display decorative or member-submitted media. Browser autoplay behavior can vary. The homepage background video is muted and decorative; when the site’s Respect reduced motion option is enabled, users who request reduced motion receive the non-video fallback instead.

If media plays in a way that creates an accessibility barrier, use your browser’s media controls where available and report the specific page through Help.

Browser-Level Controls

Modern browsers and operating systems may provide additional settings for animation, autoplay, zoom, contrast, captions, and assistive technologies. Those controls can supplement the accessibility behavior built into ProfoundSyntax.
