ProfoundSyntax is a developer community for asking questions, debugging problems, sharing code, building projects, teaching techniques, and helping other developers.
Our community standard is simple: Code. Debug. Build. Share.
These rules apply across ProfoundSyntax. Individual Topics may have additional rules, but Topic rules cannot override these site-wide requirements.
Be Respectful
Disagree with ideas, code, architecture, tools, languages, or technical approaches without attacking the person behind them. Harassment, threats, stalking, targeted intimidation, repeated personal attacks, or attempts to drive another member out of the community are not allowed.
No Hate or Targeted Abuse
Do not attack, degrade, threaten, or dehumanize people based on protected or deeply personal characteristics. Technical disagreement is welcome. Targeted abuse is not.
Protect Personal Information
Do not publish another person’s highly sensitive private information without authorization. This includes private addresses, passwords, authentication credentials, private phone numbers, confidential documents, financial information, identity documents, or information posted for harassment or intimidation.
Never Post Secrets in Code
Do not intentionally post active passwords, API keys, access tokens, private encryption keys, production credentials, private certificates, recovery codes, or similar secrets. If you accidentally expose a credential, revoke or rotate it immediately.
Share Code Responsibly
Code examples, debugging samples, proof-of-concept material, and security discussions are welcome when shared for legitimate technical, defensive, educational, or research purposes.
Do not use ProfoundSyntax to distribute malicious payloads, credential stealers, destructive malware, ransomware, botnet tooling, intentionally deceptive downloads, or instructions whose primary purpose is unauthorized harm.
Respect Ownership and Licenses
Only post code, documentation, images, text, or other material that you have the right to share. Preserve required attribution and license notices. Do not deliberately pass off another developer’s work as your own. Copyright complaints and counter-notices are handled through the Copyright / DMCA procedure.
Keep Projects Honest and Safe
Project pages must accurately represent the work being shown. Do not falsely claim authorship, collaborator involvement, affiliation, sponsorship, repository ownership, or project status. Do not invite members as collaborators merely to create misleading public attribution or access. Do not use Project links, gallery media, repositories, or related-content references to distribute malware, credential-stealing content, deceptive downloads, spam, or material you do not have the right to share.
Keep Professional Credits Honest
Industry Credits and professional-profile links must represent your real professional history in good faith. Do not invent or materially exaggerate credits, job roles, employers, studios, contribution details, release information, evidence, external-profile ownership, or professional affiliations. Do not use another person’s MobyGames or other professional profile as your own, and do not present a ProfoundSyntax review label as third-party verification or endorsement.
Use only cover artwork and other media you have the right or permission to use. Do not select a false rights basis or permission confirmation. Do not use evidence URLs, professional-profile links, or link-back tools for link farming, deceptive search manipulation, spam, malware, impersonation, or false affiliation.
Keep Posts Relevant
Choose the most appropriate Topic and Thread type. Use clear titles, include enough context for other developers to understand the problem, and provide relevant code or error information when appropriate.
Search Before Duplicating a Question
Before submitting a new Question, check whether the same problem has already been discussed. Moderators may mark substantially duplicate Questions and link them to an existing canonical discussion.
Do Not Spam
Do not flood ProfoundSyntax with repetitive content, excessive promotional links, automated submissions, irrelevant advertising, or duplicate replies. Links should add meaningful technical value.
Use Community Media Responsibly
Local Community videos may be subject to administrator-configured review before public display. Where a video-publication trust threshold is enabled, normal members can earn immediate local-video publication only after the configured number of moderator-approved videos. Rejected pending videos or moderator removal of an approved video can reset that trust progress. Earning direct publication does not exempt later media from reports, moderation, removal, or these Rules.
Vote on Content, Not People
Upvote content that contributes useful information and downvote content based on usefulness or quality, not because you dislike the author. Do not coordinate voting campaigns, create vote rings, use multiple accounts to manipulate scores, sell or trade votes, or repeatedly target another member through retaliatory voting.
Do Not Manipulate Reputation or Badges
Do not manufacture activity, arrange artificial voting, abuse accepted answers, or exploit multiple accounts to increase reputation.
Do Not Abuse Reports
Use the Report function for genuine rule, safety, spam, or moderation concerns. Do not mass-report another member as retaliation or knowingly submit false reports.
Use Private Chat, Group Chat, and Mod Mail Responsibly
Private messaging is not a loophole around the Rules. Do not use one-to-one Chat, Group Chat, Chat media, or Mod Mail for harassment, sexual or threatening contact, spam, scams, credential requests, repeated unwanted contact, block evasion, or attempts to pressure moderators outside appropriate review channels. Upload only the currently permitted Chat media/file formats and stay within the Free/Pro limits shown in the Chat interface. Do not upload malware, disguised executable content, illegal or abusive media, another person’s private information, credentials, secrets, or files you do not have permission to share. File-type restrictions reduce risk but do not make every member-supplied file inherently safe. Do not create, invite to, or repeatedly re-invite people to a Group Chat as a way to bypass a member’s privacy, Chat preferences, or block boundaries.
Use Live Chat Responsibly
Live Chat is an audience-scoped part of a broadcast and remains subject to these Rules. Do not use it for spam, harassment, threats, repeated unwanted contact, personal-information exposure, scams, credential requests, unsafe content, disruption, block evasion, or attempts to evade a broadcast or Community Chat sanction. Report and Block are ordinary-member safety actions in Live Chat. Members who hold Live Chat moderation authority should use the direct moderation controls available to their role instead of filing reports or using the member Block control there. Ordinary members may report eligible creator, Community-owner, moderator, or member messages. Active moderators of that Community cannot Report or Block their own Community owner or that Community stream’s creator, even when their preset does not grant Live Chat moderation. Valid reports concerning the stream creator or Community owner require site-staff review and cannot be dismissed by the subject or a subordinate Community moderator. Full Moderators and custom moderators explicitly granted Moderate Live Chat can moderate ordinary participants but cannot sanction the Community owner, stream creator, peer Live moderators, or protected site staff. Community owners may sanction their own moderators inside a broadcast Chat without automatically removing those moderators’ unrelated Community permissions. Site moderation staff may directly moderate eligible Community owners, creators, moderators, or members when necessary but do not use member Report/Block actions in Live Chat. Protected site operational staff accounts are not valid Live Chat Report, Block, Remove, Timeout, or Ban targets. A creator may turn Live Chat off without deleting its retained history. Do not spam the reporting or safety tools: ordinary members may submit up to three Live Chat message reports per broadcast, duplicate reports of the same message are rejected, and additional rate safeguards may temporarily pause repeated Chat, report, Block, or moderation actions.
Replies, emotes, and GIFs are part of the message and remain subject to the same conduct rules. Do not use an emote name, uploaded broadcaster emote, GIF, reply target, or coded phrasing to harass another member, evade a filter or sanction, expose personal information, or communicate content that would otherwise violate these Rules. Broadcaster Live Chat Rules and Community Rules may add broadcast-specific expectations, but they cannot weaken ProfoundSyntax-wide Rules or remove site safety controls.
The broadcast itself may also be reported from its Watch page by an eligible signed-in viewer who is authorized to access it. Do not abuse this tool or attempt to report protected/private broadcasts you cannot view. The broadcaster cannot resolve or dismiss a case against their own stream. Copyright/ownership concerns may be flagged in the normal report flow, but formal copyright takedown notices should use the dedicated Copyright / DMCA process.
Use Feedback in Good Faith
Bug reports and feature suggestions should describe genuine issues or ideas. Do not submit false diagnostics, malicious attachments, another person’s private information, repetitive spam, threats, or Feedback designed to overwhelm or manipulate administrators.
Keep Wikis Useful and Safe
Community Wikis should document useful Community knowledge. Do not use Wiki pages for link farming, deceptive search manipulation, copied documentation you do not have permission to republish, malicious downloads, credential exposure, or content that violates the applicable Community or site-wide rules.
If you connect a Wiki to an external repository, never place passwords, private keys, access tokens, private certificates, confidential source code, or other secrets in content that may be synchronized publicly.
Do Not Manipulate Recognition
Do not trade, coordinate, farm, or use alternate accounts to manufacture Recognition, badges, reputation, accepted answers, or other community signals.
No Impersonation
Do not impersonate another member, developer, company, open-source project, ProfoundSyntax moderator, staff account, or verified account. Handles that create a significant risk of impersonation or confusion may be rejected, reserved, quarantined, or changed.
Respect Blocks and Boundaries
If another member blocks you, do not create alternate accounts or use other features to circumvent that boundary. Do not use mentions, replies, votes, or other interactions to continue unwanted contact.
Do Not Evade Enforcement
Do not use alternate accounts, modified handles, automation, or other methods to evade a warning, suspension, ban, moderation restriction, security restriction, rate limit, or participation block.
Community Owners and Moderators
Community owners and moderators must use elevated tools for legitimate Community management, not retaliation, favoritism, harassment, commercial coercion, or circumvention of site-wide policy. Local Community rules may be stricter than site-wide Rules but cannot authorize prohibited conduct or block ProfoundSyntax administrators from enforcing platform-wide requirements.
Follow Topic Rules
Some Topics may have their own rules covering formatting, supported technologies, project promotion, minimum detail, or other subject-specific requirements. Follow both the Topic rules and these site-wide ProfoundSyntax Rules.
Verified Does Not Mean Expert
A verified badge indicates completion of the applicable identity or trusted-account process. It does not mean ProfoundSyntax endorses the member, guarantees their expertise, confirms their employer, or guarantees that their answers are correct.
Security Research Must Stay Responsible
Do not attack, disrupt, overload, scan destructively, exfiltrate data from, or obtain unauthorized access to ProfoundSyntax or another person’s systems. If you believe you found a ProfoundSyntax security problem, report it responsibly through the official support channel rather than exploiting it.
Illegal Activity Is Not Allowed
Do not use ProfoundSyntax to facilitate fraud, unauthorized access, exploitation, theft, trafficking, abuse, unlawful commerce, or other illegal activity. A Community, Private Chat, Group Chat, Wiki, Project, Live broadcast, Live Chat, external link, or coded phrasing is not a loophole around this rule.
No Pornography or Sexually Explicit Content
Do not post pornography, sexually explicit images or videos, sexualized nudity intended primarily for sexual gratification, fetish pornography, sexual-service advertisements, escort/prostitution solicitation, or links whose primary purpose is to distribute or sell adult sexual content. Non-graphic discussion that is genuinely necessary for technical, legal, safety, educational, or security context may be allowed, but keep it relevant and non-exploitative.
Protect Minors — Zero Tolerance for CSAM and Sexual Exploitation
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)—the preferred safety term for material that some criminal statutes still call child pornography—grooming, sextortion, sexual enticement, child sex trafficking, sexualized depictions of minors, or attempts to obtain, advertise, generate, trade, link to, distribute, or normalize such material are prohibited. This includes conduct involving real children and platform-prohibited synthetic or manipulated sexual depictions of minors. Never download, copy, forward, or repost suspected CSAM merely to report it; use the available safety/reporting channel so authorized staff can preserve and escalate evidence appropriately.
No Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery
Do not share, threaten to share, solicit, trade, or link to intimate images or videos of an identifiable person without consent. This includes eligible AI-generated, digitally altered, or otherwise fabricated intimate depictions. If you are the depicted person or an authorized representative, follow the intimate-image removal process in Help.
No Sex Trafficking or Sexual Exploitation
Do not recruit, advertise, solicit, arrange, promote, facilitate, or profit from sex trafficking, prostitution, commercial sexual exploitation, or sexual activity involving force, fraud, coercion, or minors.
No Illegal Drug or Controlled-Substance Transactions
Do not buy, sell, trade, deliver, arrange, advertise, or facilitate transactions for illegal drugs, controlled substances, unlawfully dispensed prescription drugs, cannabis/marijuana/THC products, or other regulated goods prohibited by ProfoundSyntax. Informational discussion is allowed when it is not used to arrange a transaction, evade law, or direct buyers and sellers to one another.
Global Enforcement
These safety rules apply to everyone using ProfoundSyntax regardless of country. ProfoundSyntax uses a United States compliance baseline but may remove, restrict, preserve, or report dangerous or unlawful conduct involving foreign users or entities where reasonably necessary to protect people, enforce the Rules, or comply with lawful obligations.
Moderation Actions and Appeals
Depending on severity, history, and context, ProfoundSyntax may issue warnings, remove content, lock discussions, reverse abusive activity, restrict participation, temporarily suspend an account, ban community participation, or take other reasonable protective action.
If an appeal option is available, use it in good faith. Repeated denied appeals can exhaust the configured appeal allowance and result in a Final Permanent Ban. Final Permanent Bans cannot be reinstated or cleared through the normal moderation process; final-banned accounts lose normal sign-in access, may be blocked from straightforward re-registration, and enter the site’s timed account-purge process.
Automated and System-Assisted Participation
ProfoundSyntax may use clearly identified automated or system-assisted accounts or tools in limited contexts, such as helping unanswered discussions, translation, quality review, or safety workflows. Automated output may be wrong. Members should evaluate technical information independently and may report automated content that appears unsafe, misleading, or inappropriate.
Topic Moderators and Community Moderators
Topic Moderators may moderate content within assigned Topics. Broader account actions such as global warnings, suspensions, permanent bans, or platform-wide abuse investigations may be limited to Community Moderators or authorized administrators.
Report Problems
If you see content or conduct that appears to violate these rules, use the available Report action instead of escalating the dispute yourself.
Rules May Evolve
ProfoundSyntax may update these Rules as the community, features, security risks, and moderation needs evolve. Continued participation requires following the current version.
